Solar Turtle
Who we are...
Solar
Turtle was founded in 1995, by Mr. Wally Sarrels. He is
uniquely qualified to provide Solar Energy solutions to homeowners and
businesses and is writing for publication, several volumes of
instruction to help people who want
to take the next step with energy independence.
Education
Mr.
Sarrels has had many years of focused interest in solar electronics. He
went to work at Burr Brown Corporation because they had the only wafer
fab facility within hundreds of miles of his home in Tucson, Arizona.
This is the foundry that makes the base element layers for micro chips,
but even better….solar cells. They produce wafers for computers, the
same way they make solar cells. The cells need less processing,
however.
Wally Sarrels graduated from Northern Arizona University in 1979 with a
Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology. During
his undergraduate research he built and tested his first photovoltaic
(PV) solar panel made from catalog parts.
He then spent fifteen years in the electronics manufacturing and
technical support arena enjoying great success. He then returned to
Tucson to start his own solar company, Solar Turtle. Solar Turtle has been in the solar retail and engineering business for fifteen years.
Practical Backround
In addition to his education as an engineer, Mr. Sarrels has gained much priceless, on-the-job experience installing and
troubleshooting solar, wind, and generator units all over the
Southwest. Over the last 18 years, Solar Turtle
has developed several unique enclosures including his flagship product,
the "Solar Turtle", a portable, powerful power source that will even
provide potable, filtered water, all powered by the sun, and
individual, "hollow rock" and doghouse platforms, to house
small-footprint power supplies or "stations".
Solar Turtle has even applied this technology to evaporative cooling,
using low voltage DC to provide reasonable cooling needs in arid
areas.

Energy Saving Tip:
* * * * * * Have a Power Boss
* * * * * *
Consistently turning off appliances that are not in use can be done
anywhere you live. Delegating a POWER BOSS puts children or family
volunteers to the task of keeping the home trimmed of electrical waste.
Have them police the simple appliances left on when nobody is using
them.
Incentive: Establish a base minimum payment. The promise of more when a
measurable improvement is seen on the power bills, will spark
creativity.
I paid my teenager in extra phone time when I saw an improvement in my
power bill. This will give them the feeling of achievement and
involvement. It also brings home the point not to be wasteful.
Adopting the POWER BOSS strategy may actually reduce both the power and water bill significantly.
